Charles Richmond Brenton
Member of Board of Education, was born near Dallas Center, Iowa, January 30, 1864. When fourteen years of age, he moved to Dallas Center with his parents, where he has since resided. His ancestors fought in the revolutionary and civil wars. Was married in 1893 to Miss Carrie Woodward. Has always been a republican and was a delegate to the national republican convention at St. Louis in 1896. He has been president of the Dallas Center school board for many years and the Dallas Center high school has long been his special pride. He served four years on the board of trustees of the Iowa State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts. Mr. Brenton and his brother are the owners of several thousand acres of Iowa lands, several banks and many other large outside investments. He has always given his attention to the popular pursuit of farming and has demonstrated the possibilities and profits to be derived from the Iowa lands. He is now vice president of the bank of Dallas Center. Mr. Brenton is deeply interested in religious matters and was a delegate to the general conference of the Methodist Episcopal church held in Baltimore in 1908.
