Nels L. Embretson, son of Lars and Jorand Embretson, was born Oct. 22, 1865, in Wagner township, Clayton county Iowa, and died Nov. 20, 1957, at the General hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wis., after an illness of about four months.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Norway Lutheran church and received his education in the rural schools. He lived on a farm about eight miles northwest of Elkader until 1943, from which time he made his home with his brother, Ole, at Elkader.
Mr. Embretson was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two who died in infancy, Embret, of St. Olaf, who died in 1915; Knut L., Zumbrota, Minn., who died in 1931; two sisters, Mrs. Martin Severson, Taylor, N.Dak., who died in 1935, and Mrs. Seth Clark, Elkader, who died in 1942.
He is survived by his brother, Ole, and wife, and one nephew, Joel Clark, Elkader.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 02, 1957, at the Norway Lutheran church with the Rev. Bruce Boyce officiating. Burial was in the Norway cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Thomas Pederson, Philman Embretson, Leroy Larson, Henry Reierson, Leslie Halvorson and Thore Kirkjordan.
Relatives attending from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Otis Nyhus, and Mrs. Julia Olson, Forest City; and Mrs. Lawrence Jaster, Bellevue.
