Railroad Man Dies Tuesday
Grover C. Koehn, 69, of German Valley passed away Tuesday morning at St. Francis hospital, Freeport, following a short illness.
He was born June 30, 1888, at Elkport, Ia., the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Koehn. On January 14, 1918, he was married to Theresa Ennen of Guttenberg, la.
He had been with the Chicago Great Western Railway for the past 40 years, serving as agent at German Valley for 81 years. Prior to service with the C.G.W. Railway, he worked for express agencies at Elgin, Aurora and Rockford.
Survivors include his wife; a son, G. Stanley Koehn of German Valley; a daughter, Mrs. John (Arlene) Ross of Ridott; a brother, William Koehn of Park Ridge; three sister, Mrs. Mary Kemps, Mrs. Amanda McSperrin, both of Dubuque, Ia. and Mrs. Charles Waterman of Elkader, la.; one grandson and five granddaughters. A daughter, Betty Mardelle, preceded him in death.
Services will be held Friday at 1:80 p.m. in the German Valley Methodist church with the Rev William Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Freeport.
