On last Friday afternoon, April 21, 1922, at the County Home in Read township, where he had gone a few days before, Henry Timm, a former resident of Guttenberg, passed away, after a short illness and at the age of 41 years, 7 months and 20 days.
Deceased was born on a farm in Millville township, Clayton County, Iowa on September 1, 1880, where he lived until 17 years of age, when he came to Guttenberg with his parents to reside where he lived until the death of his mother a few years ago.
Of late he had been making his home with his sister, Mrs. Joseph DeSotel and family, near Luana, where he always received the best of care.
He had been in poor health practically all his entire life, being afflicted with a nervous trouble. About two weeks ago, for some unknown reason, he ate some Lewis lye, which caused his death. This act was a shock to his relatives.
He was taken to the hospital at Pottville [sic - Postville] for treatment, and later to the county home. All was done for him that could be done to ward off death, but all failed.

Notes: His inscription is on the same gravestone as Christian Timm & Mary (Kickbush) Timm, his parents. A newspaper clipping, unknown paper & date, had an obit, but with the following additional information:
"He was a kind and true brother, and spite of the condition of his health, he was an ambitious man during his entire life. The body was brought to Guttenberg for burial Saturday, and the funeral was held Sunday afternoon, Rev. Luz, of Dubuque officiating. Interment was made in the City cemetery. The funeral was largely attended. His death is deeply mourned by two brothers, Fred Timm, of Delhi, Iowa and Chas Timm, of LaMoure, N.D.; three sisters Mrs. Ricka Bergunde, of Fergus Falls, Minn., Mrs. Mary Elliott, of Dubuque, Mrs. Emma DeSotel, of Luana and many other relatives and friends."
