A new classroom teacher at Beclabito Day School Shiprock Sub-agency, is Mr. Harold B. Nading from Littleport, Iowa.

Mr. Nading was graduated from the Littleport High School. After high school graduation he attended Upper Iowa University, Fayette, Ia. where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Biological Science. Later he attended Colorado State College, Greeley, Colorado and received a Masters Degree with a major in School Administration and Supervision.

Mr. Nading's teaching career includes four years as athletic coach at Greeley, Iowa, eight years at Littleport, Iowa and one year as Superintendent supervising schools at Littleport, Elkport and Fort Olaf, Iowa [sic: St. Olaf].

Three years and three months of Mr. Nading's life have been given to Uncle Sam's Navy.

Mr. Nading is married and has five children, two girls and three boys. The oldest boy attending Junior High School at Shiprock Public School plays on the football team. The family are members of the Catholic Church.

Harold Nading, former Littleport principal in the Central Community school system who is now teaching at Sherman Institute at Riverside, Calif., was recently presented with a prformance award according to the Sherman Bulletin, school newspaper.

The award was in recognition for work done by Nading at the Beclabito day school at Shiprock, New Mexico, an agency of the institute. The award was in the form of a $200 gift.

Nading was honored for developing a plan for utilizing test results to gain a clear picture of academic achievement of pupils and of the schools in which the tests are given.

Notes: Harold Bernard Nading, son of Merritt Uranus Nading & Martha M. Rieck, was born 1/31/1922 and died in Riverside, California on 10/15/1986. He married Helen H. Zapf.

He's buried in the Riverside National Cemetery, section 19, site 2521. He served during WWII in the U.S. Navy, entering the service 8/23/1942 and discharged 11/9/1945.
