Funeral for A. Nat Beck, 84 of royal was held Saturday afternoon, March 8 from the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Royal. Pastor Roy Satre officiated
Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer
Bearers were Philip Hurst, Bill Beck, Paul Christensen, Frank Christensen, Jim Christensen and John Christensen
Honorary bearers were Hans Kruse, Fred Kracht, Duane Kracht, Melvin Joenks, Glen L. Johnson and Norval Binder
Mr. Beck died Wednesday, March 5 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital
He was born December 5, 1895 in Clay County, Iowa to Paul and Marie (Skeem) Beck
He attended school in Clay County and attended Dana College at Blair, Nebraska. He returned to Royal area where he began farming with his father
On June 25, 1919, he was married to Mattie Marie Hagedorn
They continued to farm on the home place. He retired 26 years ago and they moved to Hagedorn Heights in Spencer, late moving to a farm southwest of Rossie. They moved to Royal six years ago where they have since made their home
He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Royal where he served on the church board, was a member of the choir and taught Sunday School. He had also served on the ASC board
Surviving are his widow, Mattie of Royal; three sons, Rudy of Spirit Lake, Robert of Mendham, New Jersey and Paul of Seward, Nebraska; a daughter, Mrs. Bernard (June) Christensen of Storm Lake; 16 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Julia Jensen of Spencer and Mrs. Ethna Kruse of Royal
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister and a grandchild
