John Young family of New Hampton

YOUNG, SWEENEY

I am looking for traces of the John and Mary Young family. The parents are both buried in Calvary/St. Joseph's Cemetery in New Hampton, Chickasaw County. John's dates are 1820-1884, Mary's dates are 1837-1923. They probably farmed near Dorgan's Bridge east of New Hampton. Their children (according to the 1880 census) were Matilde, Vincent, Edward, Frank, Anna and Cecilia, born between about 1856 and 1880. The family originated near Wilmore, Cambria County, Pennsylvania and moved to somewhere in Illinois where Vincent and Edward were born between 1859 and 1863. I think they may have moved to Buchanan County, perhaps near Fairbank, in about 1864, and then to Chickasaw County in about 1871. The husband, John Young, is probably the brother of Elizabeth Sweeney, wife of Bernard Sweeney who farmed near Dorgan's Bridge until at least 1880, and perhaps as late as 1890.
