Death of Samuel Foust
Another Cherokee County pioneer has gone to his last resting place. Samuel Foust died at the residence of his son, W. T. Foust, in this city, on Wednesday, July 3, at 2:15 p.m. The deceased had been a resident of this county twenty-six years. He was born in Union County, Pa., in September 1817. He lived in Illinois two years, then came to Webster City. He has been in Iowa thirty-five years. His wife died here about eight months ago. Eight children were born to them, five of whom are living – three sons and two daughters. All of these are residents of this state except the eldest daughter, Mrs. Wamsley, who lives in the west. The deceased was a great sufferer, his death being the result of paralytic convulsions, but he bore it all with Christian fortitude. He was conscious at the last and expressed his happiness at the outcome, dying with the hope of one who had lived a good life. The funeral was held from the M. E. church on Friday morning, the services being conducted by Rev. Jesse Cole, and the remains taken to the Aurelia cemetery for interment.
