Funeral services for Alford V. Davis, 87, Tipton and formerly of Mechanicsville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 1989 at the United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Robert Molsberry officiating. Betty Trevathan will be the organist and pallbearers will be Roy, Don, Allen, Paul and Carl Davis and Dave Wiskus. Burial will be in the Springdale cemetery.

Mr. Davis died Jan. 16 at Crestview Acres in Marion, following an extended illness.

The son of Joshua and Effie Andrews Davis, he was born Jan. 28, 1901 in Tipton. He attended rural Cedar county schools. He married Jessie C. Millett Nov. 13, 1937 in West Branch.

Mr. Davis was a farmer and a former employee of the Wilson Packing Co. He served as a private in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by 2 sons, Don, Hinckley, Ill. and Roy, Mundelein, Ill. and 4 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and a sister.
