Funeral services for Ronald (Blimp) Hartley, 65, were held at the United Methodist church in Wilton Dec. 30, 1988 with the Rev. Paul Pennington officiating. Burial was in the Durant cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry Carstens, Fred Thurston, Robert Brenner, Roger Zenner, John Gerbstein and Pete Reifert. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.
The son of Charles and Rouie Sayre Hartley, he was born in Tipton Jan. 31, 1923. He married Betty Lou Kroening in Tipton Oct. 16, 1948.
He was a carpenter and worked in the Quad Cities with Local No. 4 of the Carpenter's Union in Davenport, retiring in 1981. He later worked as a security guard at CDS in Wilton until January, 1988.
A veteran of navy service in World War II, he was a past commander of the American Legion, Post 584. He was also a member of the Durant VFW and Local No. 4 of the Carpenter's Union.
He is survived by his wife; 2 sons, Richard, Gering, Nebr. and Thomas, Wilton; 3 daughters, Mrs. Wesley (Kathryn) Furne, Wilton and Susan and Lori Hartley, both at home; 8 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Alfred, Wilton; Luther, Lone Tree and Charles, Springville; 2 sisters, Mrs. Richard (Hildreth) Noble, Wilton and Mrs. Don (Sarah Jane) Luettjohann, Cedar Bluff. He was preceded in death by a brother.
