Last rites for Gene H. Todd, 65, were held at the Rochester Methodist church Dec. 3, 1988 with the Rev. Norman Anderson officiating. His body was cremated with burial later in the Springdale cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark Nash, Duane Dotson, George Peden, Ricky and Roger Gritton and Herb Ford. Sharon Stiff was organist.

Mr. Todd died at University hospital, Iowa City Nov. 30.

The son of Carr and Margaret L. Hunter Todd, he was born at Springdale July 3, 1923. He graduated from Springdale high school in 1941. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the anti-aircraft artillery in the army. He was inducted March 3, 1943 and served overseas taking part in the Rhineland, Central Europe and Ardennes campaigns. He served in the army of occupation in Germany and was released from service 21 Sept. 1946, having spent nearly 2 years overseas.

Mr. Todd was married to Evelyn Howe at Bennett in 1946 and later to Betty LaRue, who preceded him in death. He was a mechanic. He was also a breeder of miniature horses.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Barbara L. Kennedy, Birmingham, Ala.; Jerri L. Wolfe, Lone Tree and Susan A. Luckel, North Liberty; a son, Anthony C., Cleveland, Tenn.; 6 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Norma Christiansen, Victoria, Texas and a brother, James, Shertz, Texas.
