Funeral services for Herbert O. Johansen, 89, Durant, were held Sept. 6, 1988 at the Lacock Funeral Home in Durant, with burial in the Durant cemetery.

Mr. Johansen died Sept. 3 at the Wilton Nursing Home.

He married Viola Voss in 1924 in Davenport. He was a retired carpenter and had worked in the Durant area.

Mr. Johansen was a member of the Wilton Masonic Lodge and Knights of Pythias, Durant. He served on the Durant city council and the Durant school board.

He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, Mrs. Wendel (Betty) Schukar, Iowa City and Mrs. Don (Janet) Guttenfelder, Durant; a son, Kenneth, Pleasant Valley; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a brother, Albert, Modesto, Calif.
