Funeral services for Carl Wilhelm, 88, West Branch, were held July 16, 1988 at the West Branch Methodist church, with the Rev. Sang Ro officiating. Mrs. Amy Garlock was the organist and pallbearers were Kevin, Todd and Jeff Stollman, Kenneth Fawcett, Kenneth Slach and Herbert Espensen. Burial, with military honors, was in the West Branch cemetery. Barker Funeral Home, West Branch, was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wilhelm died July 14 at Crestview Care Center following an extended illness.
The son of Harry and Bessie Smith Wilhelm, he was born Feb. 18, 1900 in Lexington, Va. He married Hattie Womeldorf June 6, 1923 in Iowa City. He was employed for several years at National Refining Co. in Sioux City and later joined the security department at the University of Iowa. He was also employed for several years in the Cedar county assessor's office.
Mr. Wilhelm was a navy veteran of World War I, a member of the Wapsinonoc Masonic Lodge of West Branch and the Juanita Chapter of O.E.S. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge, the U.C.T. in Yankton, S.D., the Chauncey Butler American Legion Post in West Branch and the El Riad Shrine in Sioux Falls, S.D.
He is survived by his wife and a sister, Mrs. Francis Spillan, Reston, Va.
