Funeral services for Mrs. Mearl (Marvel L.) Woode, 55, were held at the Sheets & Son Funeral Home Dec. 31 with Dr. Jerrold Swinton officiating. Burial was in the Red Oak cemetery. Pallbearers were Allen Paustian, Larry Kessler, Tony Woode, Doug Vincent, Kevin Kenney and Darren Rickard. Betty Trevathan was organist.

Mrs. Woode died at her home Dec. 28.

The daughter of Clarence and Bernice E. Safley Rickard, she was born at Tipton Feb. 1, 1932. She graduated from Tipton high school in 1950 and was married to Mearl R. Woode at Kahoka, Mo. Oct. 6, 1950.

She spent her life in the Tipton area and worked as an aide in the Tipton Community school for 18 years until her illness forced her to retire in March, 1987.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Dean (Pam) Wilkerson, West Branch; 3 sons, Ken, DeForest, Wis. Marvin, Cedar Rapids and Roger, Altamonte Springs, Fla.; 4 grandchildren; her mother, Bernice Sharp, Tipton and a brother, Robert Rickard, Clarendon Hills, Ill. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister.
