Last rites for Brian Lee Brecht, 30, a West Branch native, were held in San Francisco, Calif. Jan. 11. The body has been cremated. A private interment will be in the West Branch cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Brecht died at St. Mary's hospital, San Francisco, Jan. 8. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer society.

The son of Derald and Marietta Ketchum Brecht, he was born in West Branch July 6, 1957. He graduated from West Branch high school in 1975 and worked for American College Testing in Iowa City.

He moved to California in 1980, where he was a site supervisor for Telerate. For the past 3 years he was a computer programmer for Merrill Lynch.

He is survived by his parents and a brother, Derald Jr., Newbury Park, Calif. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers.
