Funeral services for Douglas Sander, 34, West Branch, were held at St. John's United Church of Christ, Clarence, Dec. 11 with the Rev. Calvin Schumacher officiating. Mrs. Robert Hasselbusch was the organist. Pallbearers were Paul Hoffner, Duane Morris, Brian Criswell, Randy Derynck, Rob Debner and Ryan Reynolds. Burial was in the Clarence cemetery. Graveside military rites were conducted by Victory Post #286, Clarence.
Mr. Sander died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Dec. 8.
The son of LeRoy and Betty Boots Sander, he was born in Iowa City Feb. 9, 1953. He married Rhonda Krumroy in Clarence April 24, 1982. He was a finish operator at Sheller Glove in Iowa City. A navy veteran, he had served in Vietnam.
Mr. Sander is survived by his wife; his parents, Tipton; 2 sons, Doulgas Jr. and Christopher, both at home and 3 sisters, Donna Zimmerman, Sharon Sander and Leah Pigsley, all of Tipton. He was preceded in death by a sister.
A memorial fund has been established.
