Donald L. Curry, age 81, of Massena, Iowa, passed away on November 17, 2011.
He was born on the family farm south of Massena on July 23, 1930. Don married Dolores Marie Neiens from Wiota, Iowa, on December 27, 1954.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Dolores on October 28, 2007; their son, Nicholas James on December 17, 1969; his parents, John Lewis on January 2, 1973 and Mary Kathryne (West) Curry on December 26, 1937; stepmother Fern (Anderson) Howard Curry on March 2, 2001; and a brother, William Joseph on March 21, 1991.
Survivors include his children, Pat, of Asbury Park, N.J., Tony, of Omaha, Neb., Chris and his partner, Don Carrel, of Mission, Kan., Mary K. and her husband, Bill Morrow, of Pewaukee, Wis., and Sarah and her husband, Davy Summers, of Marietta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Megan and Jack Morrow and Isaac and Aaron Summers; sisters, Barbara Meyer, of Nebraska City, Neb., Marie Thayer, of Ankeny, Iowa, Jayne Gallagher and husband, Bob, of Omaha; half sister, Colleen Wilber and husband, Bob, of Macedonia, Iowa; half brother, John Curry and wife, Coni, of Massena, Iowa; stepsister, Shela Williamson, of Des Moines, Iowa; stepbrother, Bill Howard, of Vinton, Iowa; sister-in-law, Florence Christofferson, of Atlantic, Iowa; special family friend, Dennis Grasser; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation with the family greeting friends on Sunday, November 20th, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Massena. Funeral Mass Monday, November 21, 2011, at 11 a.m., at the church with burial in the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. Taps will be played at the cemetery. Online condolences may be left to the family at www. steenfunerals.com. Scripture Service Sunday evening at 7 p.m., at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Legion Post #693, St. Patrick's Cemetery Fund or the Donald and Dolores Curry Scholarship fund at Creighton University.
