Rose Heath, age 93, of Lohrville, IA passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Accura HealthCare of Lake City, Iowa. Rosalie Dale Edwards was born January 22, 1931, in Correctionville, Iowa to parents Cecil and Emma (Neal) Edwards. She grew up in the Cushing/Correctionville area and attended school at the Cushing Community School. Rose married Richard (Dick) Heath on January 5, 1949. They were blessed with one son Ted (Sue) Heath of Hiawatha and two daughters, Kim (Don) Becher of Fort Dodge and Faye (Rusty) Huster of Lytton. They made their home in Correctionville until moving to Lohrville in 1952 where Dick ran the People’s Store. In 1970 Dick and Rose Purchased the store and it became known as Dick’s Market. She spent much of her time filling in at the meat counter and check out counter, but her most treasured job was mother and grandmother. Rosie was a member of various community organizations including, Lohrville Commercial Club, and Methodist Women’s Circle.
Earlier in her life, Rosie was an avid bowler, being a member of women’s teams as well as a couples league with Dick. She made many memories at the state bowling competitions. She enjoyed attending races and visiting numerous casinos. Rose and Dick enjoyed entertaining and hosting many Saturday night card parties, as well as square dancing. Rose is survived by her children: Ted (Sue) Heath, Kim (Don) Becher, and Faye Huster; grandchildren: Rich Heath, Patty Heath, Shelly Becher, Tom Huster, and Megan Jondle; great-grandchildren: Matthew and Andrew Heath, Matix and Hayes Jondle, and Emersyn and Waylon Huster; sister Shirley (Les) Zahnley of Correctionville, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dick Heath, parents Cecil and Emma Edwards, parents-in-law Jerry and Alice Heath, brother-in-law Fred Heath, sister, and brother-in-law Marilyn and Don Williams, and son-in-law Rusty Huster. A Graveside Service has been scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 21, 2024, at the Good Hope Cemetery north of Correctionville, Iowa.
