Harry Lewis Clow
(February 27, 1938 - November 20, 2024)Harry Clow, age 86 of Lake City, IA, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City. The family will have a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Harry to the Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City. Harry was born on February 27, 1938, to parents Edwin and Ruth (Moulds) Clow in Lake City. He grew up and lived on the Clow Century Farm, where he graduated from Westview High School in Lake City with the class of 1956. Harry served in the United States Army Reserves for six years from 1960 to 1966. In 1958, Harry was united in marriage to Nola Vincent at the Lanesboro Methodist Church and lived in Harry’s boyhood home. They were blessed with three children: Kirk, Laurie, and Ed. Harry worked as a farmer and had milk cows, hogs, cattle and grew corn and soybeans. Harry also sold Pioneer seed for 30 years and grew his dealership from 500 bags of seed to over 5000 bags when he retired. Harry was a huge sports fan, maintaining season tickets for Iowa State football and basketball for many years. He loved watching any college sporting event along with the Chicago Cubs. Harry was an avid card player and played in many poker and euchre groups, as well as, playing pitch with his sister Carol. He was also known for his love of golf. He made two hole-in-ones during his golfing career and always looked forward to his Thursday golf travel group with Jerry Schleisman, Craig Rock, and Mike Vogt, for over 30 years. Harry served on the Stewart Memorial Hospital board from 1983 to 1989, and as Board Chairman from 1987 to 1989. He also served on the Country Club board for many years.
Most of all, Harry cherished his time spent with family and friends. He enjoyed watching his kids play sports and was the timekeeper for Lake City football games for many years. He was a family man who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Nola Clow of Lake City IA; children: Kirk (Kay) Clow of Lake View, IA, Laurie (Derek) Knowler of Cedar Falls, IA, and Ed Clow of Austin, TX; sister Carol (Clayton) Roller of Lake View, IA; along with several extended family members, step-grandkids, and friends. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and brother-in-law Karen and Richard Hansen, as well as brother and sister-in-law Bob and Pat Clow.
