Mr. Nels Iverson was born in Yding, Jutland, Denmark January 10, 1836. On October 1862 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Peterson. In the year of 1882 they immigrated to the United States and came to Alta, Iowa. A short time after he purchased a farm about 8 miles north of Alta, where they had their home for many years. A few years ago they moved to the town of Alta, where Mrs. Iverson passed away on August 16, 1921. Since that time Mr. Iverson has been making his home with his children.
Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Iverson, two of which have gone beyond before their father, Mrs. G. Beyer and Soren Iverson, while the other four, Peter Iverson of Windom, Minnesota, George and Alfred Iverson of Alta and Mrs. Jens Jensen of Schaller, Iowa, are left on this sid the river of death to mourn the loss of a loving father.
They mourn, however, not as those having no hope as their dear father, has been a follower of Christ for many years. He was a member of the Congregation of God. He died as he had lived, with a smile and with joy and perfect faith in Him who loved him and gave Himself for him.
For several weeks Mr. Iverson had been sick and suffered considerable, but all love could do for him was done at the home of his son, Alfred Iverson and his wife who tenderly cared for him until God took him. The call to the home beyond came Monday morning, December 11, 1922. He reached the age of 86 years 11 months and 1 day.
The funeral was held Wednesday, December 13 from the home of his son, Alfred Iverson, and from the Elk Baptist Church. Jens Miller and M. A. Wesgaard pastor of the Baptist church officiated. His body was placed to rest in Elk cemetary until the morning of resurection.
