STATE NEWSMrs. Ellen Cushing, the widow of the unfortunate man who burned to death in the Independence calaboose, last spring, has commenced suit against Jas. Moroney, the keeper in one of the saloons in that city, for the damages in the sum of $10,000, for selling liquor to her husband, and this almost directly contributing to his death. The Independence Bulletin understands that the proof is abundant not only that Cushing procured his liquor at Moroney’s saloon, but that the individual plied him with whiskey even though while his (Cushing’s) daughters were trying to induce him to leave the place and go home.
