Lawrence Anderson, 88, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Madrid Home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, at Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Chapel in Madrid, with burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery there.
Lawrence was born May 9, 1924, in High Bridge, Iowa, to Gunnard A. and Grace (Lister) Anderson. He lived most all of his life in Madrid and was a member of St. Malachy's Catholic Church. Lawrence worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 42 years, retiring in 1985.
Lawrence is survived by his wife of 69 years, Inez, his son, Lawrence (Connie) Anderson and his granddaughter, Melissa (Tim) Parsons, both of Carbondale, IL, and his sister, Laura Palmieri of Madrid. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Chapel where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Malachy's Catholic Church or the Madrid Home. Online condolences will be warmly welcomed at IlesCares.com.
