Coming as a complete surprise to Peru young people is the marriage of Miss Cecelia Hoop of Madrid, Iowa and Lieutenant Harry Mills of Camp Dodge, Iowa, formerly of the city. The wedding took place October 6, in Madrid, Iowa, at the home of the brides' parents after which the young couple made their home in Des Moines, Iowa as Lieutenant Mills was stationed at Camp Dodge.
The groom received his honorable discharged from the army last Friday and with his bride left immediately for Madrid where they will spend Christmas with Mrs. Mills' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Hoop. Lieutenant and Mrs. Mills will spend New Years in Peru, Illinois, with Lieutenant Mills' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Mills of West Third street. Lieutenant Mills is a well and favored known young man of this city and a member of the Beta Phi Sigma fraternity.--Clipping is noted as from Des Moines in Dec., 1918. The wedding took place on October 6, 1918. The Madrid Register-News article published in Oct of 1918 stated further that the wedding Cecil Hoop and Lt. Mills took place at the home of the officiating minister, Rev. W. C. Cole, 1344 Des Moines street, Des Moines. The wedding was witnessed by the mother and sister of the bride, Mrs. Adam Hoop and Miss Hazel Hoop of Madrid.
