Zera Crouch
Zera Crouch, 78, of 507 E. Oak Street, Centerville, died Tuesday, June 25, 1985, at his home. Born May 22, 1907, in Lima, ILL., he was the son of Addison and Martha Shanks Crouch. He was married to Louise Stalkfest Nov. 30, 1929, and she preceded him in death Jan. 24. 1946. He then married Beatrice Waits Feb. 5, 1947, in Muscatine, and she survives.
He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Jackson Lodge in Centerville, a member of the Appanoose County Historical Society and First Baptist Church.
During World War II he did essential work on the Manhattan Project (atomic bomb).
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Addison of Rock Island, ILL.; and Randy of Scotts Air Force Base, Belleville, ILL.; two sisters, Orilla Harman of Sarasota, Fla.; and Helen Murrey of Payson, ILL.; and six grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a half-sister.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Johnson-Lange Funeral Home, with Jackson Masonic Lodge officiating at the service. Interment
will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday evening, where memorials to the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital may be left.
