Walter D. Keefe, son of Mr.and Mrs. Dennis Keefe, was born May 21, 1873 at Nevada, Iowa and passed away on July 21, 1953 at Rosary Hospital, Corning. He had been in ill health for some time and critically ill for the past ten days.
He came to Corning as a small boy and spent his entire life n this community where he was respected by all who knew him.
In January 1896, he was married to Eva Kepner, who preceded him in death August 5, 1912. To this union were born four children, Arthur and Kenneth of Corning and Edna Jobe of Butte, Montana; one daughter Vada preceded him in death December 2, 1919.
He was united in marriage on March 17, 1935 to Lucy Brown who survives him. Also surviving are three step children: Mrs. Lewis Crouse of Corning, Mrs. Orville Berry, Hopkins, Missouri, and Ethrie Brown, Red Oak; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, and one step great grandchild.
He united with the Christian Church at Corning when a young man and remained a faithful member throughout his entire life, working diligently as long as his health permitted.
Funeral services were Thursday, July 23, 1963 at 2:30 p.m. in the Christian Church in Corning with Rev. Ray Nixon officiating. Music was by Ruth Reed, Dessie Avaux, and Betty Hill with Beverly Drew Pianist. Interment was in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Pall bearers were Perry James, Tracy Kepner, Frank Thompson, Carl Bickford, Chance Murphy, and Jess Figgins.
