MRS. LESTER CHAPPELL
Beulah Berteen Beckwith Chappell, youngest daughter of Rhoda Hoagland and George Riley Beckwith, was born at Carl, Iowa, June 19, 1897.
She grew to womanhood in Adams County on August 12, 1923 she was united in marriage to Lester Chappell at Creston, Iowa. To this union two sons were born.
Most of their married life was spent on a farm south of Corning. Lester and Beulah’s retirement years were mainly spent in Phoenix, Arizona. In February 1973, they entered the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Corning, where she passed away June 11, 1977, at the age of 79 years, 11 months, and 23 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters. She is survived by her husband, Lester, 2 sons, Eugene and Edward; two daughters-in-law, Beth and Evelyn, all of Corning; three grandchildren, Linda Lester, Diann Zimmerman of Cedar Falls, and Jim Chappell of Corning and two great grandchildren.One of Beulah’s greatest enjoyments of life were small children.
Funeral services were held at the Larking Roland Funeral Home in Corning, June 14, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Howard Wells officiating. Interment was in Prairie Rose Cemetery.
Organ music was furnished by Kathleen Cook. Pall bearers were Ronald Travis, Russell Travis, Dan Thomas, Dean Leonard, Warren Mitchell, and Harold Donaldson.
