Amanda M. Doan was born 11 Aug 1847 to Jesse and Catherine (Slaughter) Doan in Warren Co., IN. In 1856, the family moved to Decatur Co., IA.

Amanda is found with her parents in Leon, Decatur Co., IA on the census returns for 1860 and 1870. In 1880, Amanda is living in Summerset, Adair Co., IA with her husband Henry W. Singer, her father, Jesse "Done", and her niece, Sarah Pace.

In 1881, Amanda is listed as Amanda Singer in her father, Jesse Doan's will. In 1890 Amanda married Robert Nichols in Adair Co., IA. In 1892 she served as executrix for her father's estate in Adair Co.

Amanda died 22 Nov 1908 and is buried with Mr. Nichols (1854-1915) at the Greenfield Cemetery in Adair Co., IA.

Any information about marriage to Henry W.Singer, death of Amanda or Henry and any descendents would help.
