Riser family Album |
Fred Riser was born June 14, 1834 in Berne, Switzerland. He died May 18, 1919 and is buried in Mays Prairie cemetery.
He was first married to Barbara Marti (1834-1862), daughter of Henri Marti & Catherine Blumer. They had 5 children.
After Barbara died, he married Eva M. Schwartz, daughter of John & Elizabeth Schwartz. She was born in Ohio on October 28, 1847 and died August 17, 1907. Burial is in Mays Prairie cemetery. They had 13 children.
The occasion of this family gathering was likely the marriage of Peter Fischer & Matilda Riser, who married in 1894. The couple is front & center in the picture and each is wearing a corsage. The guests are all dressed up. The photo was taken on the front lawn of the Fred Riser home. (see close-up views below)
View of the Fred Riser home farm, rural Lansing, from the hill .... this photo was probably taken on the same day as the above photo. If you look close, there is a gathering of people in the front yard.
