Allamakee Album Conrad Fiet family |
"The photo of the Conrad and
Caroline (Flage) Fiet family was found in our barn when
we moved into our home. After talking with the daughter
of the previous home owner, she believed the photo was of
her grandmother and her family, but was unsure of which
side of the family tree it belonged to. I extensively
researched the family tree, and have been able to put
names to the faces of each family member shown." ... Aubrie Lenz-Monroe Correction by Dawn Heimer 4/09/2024: "The Conrad Fiet family is a branch of my family tree. Aubrie's description states the back row is Minne then Mary. Actually, it is the other way around. My great-grandmother was Wilhelmina Charlotte 'Minnie' date of birth is July 5, 1886 and she is second from the left in the back row." [Note from coordinator: the correction has been made] |

FIET WINKIE Ludlow, Ia., Nov. 16 --
Special: The country home of Mrs. Edward Ludeking here
was the scene of a pretty wedding Thursday when Miss
Martha Fiet, daughter of Mrs. Conrad Fiet, became the
bride of Herman Winke, son of William Winkie, the
ceremony being performed by Rev. Widmayer. After the
ceremony the bridal couple and the relatives and friends
partook of a wedding dinner at the Ludeking home. The
young couple will make their home on the Paul Ludeking
farm. ~Dubuque Telegraph Herald, November 16th, 1926 Note that the name George is replaced by Herman and Winke/Winkie is spelled differently throughout the wedding announcement. Martha was married to George H. Winke. The surname is found spelled both ways in various other newspaper articles & records but WINKE is the spelling on their gravestone in Zalmona cemetery. |
