Brothers John Carlos Deremo (L) and Orsemas Deremo (R)

The brothers were public servants during the early days of Allamakee County.

John was born "John Carlos Deremo" but when he left New York, he changed his name to "John S. Deremo". John and his wife, Sarah Denning removed to Adair County, Iowa. Sarah died 10/26/1895. John died 02/10/1901 in Greenfield, Adair co. They are buried in the Greenfield twp. cemetery.

Orsemas was involved in the organization of Village Creek twp. (later renamed Center township) in the mid-1850's. He was a physician and a farmer. Orsemas, his wife Catherine (Wilder) and their family lived in the Waukon, Elon, Center twp. vicinity.
