Transcription notes:
-The column for race was omitted from the transcription. The choices on the 1860 census were White, Black or Mulatto. The race is presumed to be White, but if someone is indicated as Black or Mulatto on the census, it has been noted immediately below the transcribed page.

-This enumerator's handwriting was not consistent and his ability to accurately record non-English names was challenging.  Where possible, I referenced other Iowa (state) and USFC censuses -- including the 1860 Agriculture Schedule -- to verify minor questions with the enumerator's handwriting. Where the records varied, I transcribed exactly what I read on the 1860 USFC and did not alter the information.The enumerator frequently misspelled surnames, especially using a "c" for an "s", or vice versa. It will benefit the researcher to scroll the names rather than searching the page. Be creative!

- Care has been taken to provide an accurate transcription, but the handwriting was frequently very difficult to read. Errors are likely. Please use only as a guide in your research & consult the original census to verify the entries.
