Lieutenant Woebbeking, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Woebbeking, 418 Cherry street, was inducted into the nurses corps as a second lieutenant at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo, on June 3, 1941.
She has three brothers in service: First Lieutenant Vernon F., instructing with tank destroyers at Camp Hood, Tex.; Lt. (j.g.) Albert Q. instructing in the navy air forces at Glenview, Ill.; and Pvt. Ewald H., an ambulance driver in the medical detachment at Camp Moultrie, S.C.

Dorothy C. Woebbeking, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Woebbeking, Waterloo, has been promoted to first lieutenant in the nurses corps. She took her training at the Lutheran hospital here and was a civilian nurse before joining the army three years ago. She now is in France. She also has been stationed in North Africa and in Italy, serving on the Anzio beach head.

First Lt. Dorothy Woebbeking, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Woebbeking, 233 Cutler street, arrived home Thursday after 30 months overseas. She served in the army nurse corps in the invasions of Africa, Sicily, France and Germany. Formerly a nurse at Drake university, Lieutenant Woebbeking entered the nurses corps in June 1941. Three brothers are in the service. Capt. Vernon Woebbeking is a patient at Madigan general hospital, Tacoma, Wash; Pfc. Ewald Woebbeking is stationed in Germany and Lt. Albert Woeebbeking is stationed in the Philippines.

Dorothy Carolyn Woebbeking/Webbeking Worst was born Dec. 26, 1916 to Therese Plaisier and Karl/Carl F. Woebbeking/Webbeking. She died Dec. 16, 2015 and is buried in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
1st Lt. Woebbeking served in World War II with the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. She served stateside for 20 months and then as an operating room nurse in the 11th Evacuation Hospital, moving throughout North Africa, Italy, Sicily, Southern France and Germany. She received the American Defense Ribbon, America Theatre Ribbon, EAME Theatre Ribbon, 1 Silver Battle Star, 2 Bronze Battle Stars, Bronze Service Arrowhead, 5 Overseas Service Bars and the Victory Medal. Her battles and campaigns included Tunisian, Sicilian, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, Battle of the Bulge, D-Day Invasion and Anzio. She was married to William Francis Worst. Sgt. Worst also served in World War II with the U.S. Army.
