Miss Virginia A. Wingert, daughter of E.P. Wingert, 405 West Columbia ave, Davenport, who has served as officer in charge of the Coast Guard recruiting office in Los Angeles, Calif. for the last ten months, has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant, junior grade, in the Women's Reserve of the U.S. Coast Guard.
Lt. Wingert was transferred March 1, to the U.S. Coast Guard Air station in San Diego, Calif.
Before entering the service, Lt. Wingert taught speech and dramatics at Immaculate Conception academy.

Lt. Virginia A. Wingert of the SPARS, home on a seven-day leave, from the U.S. Coast Guard station of San Diego, Calif., is visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.P. Wingert, 405 West Columbia avenue. She began her assignment there March 1, 1944, and was advanced to her present rank later that month.
After entering the SPARS, Miss Wingert was engaged in recruiting work at Los Angeles for approximately 10 months.
Lt. Wingert's brother, Maj. Warren E. Wingert is stationed at the Eighth army headquarters in the Philippines.

Lt. Virginia A. Wingert, who has spent a few days leave with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.T. Wingert, 405 Columbia, and her aunt, Miss Elizabeth Crawford, 2710 Grand avenue, has returned to her duties at the U.S. Coast guard air station in San Diego, Calif.
Her brother, Lt. Col. Warren E. Wingert, who has been with the Eighth army in the Philippines, and more recently in Japan, has returned to the United States and is visiting with his wife and two children in Fairfield, Ill. He expects to be in Davenport this week for a visit with relatives here.
