WAVE RECRUIT -- Miss Phyllis J. Ulen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Ulen, 14 1/2 1st S.E., left Tuesday afternoon for Hunter college, New York City, to begin her WAVES boot training.
Miss Ulen enlisted in the WAVES in August and was sworn in in October. She has been employed in the shoe department at Eatons.
A graduate of Mason City public schools, the new WAVE will receive 6 weeks of training at Hunter college before being assigned a permanent post.
