Lt. Bernice E. Stapel

 

 

 

Bernice Stapel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Stapel of Oelwein, has enlisted and will report to Camp Carson, Colo., Mar. 15. Miss Stapel is a graduate of Mercy School of Nursing at Cedar Rapids, class of 1938, and practiced in Los Angeles, Cal., Denver and Pueblo, Colo., before coming to Oelwein four years ago. She has two brothers in the service, Charles, machinist's mate first class, stationed at Eastport, Me., and Master-Sgt. James Staple, stationed at Fort Knox, Ky.

Lt. Bernice E. Stapel of the Army Nurse Corps, has arrived in China for duty. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Stapel she has been through Australia, Calcutta, India enroute to China.

Lt. Bernice Stapel Arrives in States

Lt. Bernice Stapel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Stapel of 731 First Ave. NE, arrived in New York City yesterday by plane from Calcutta, India and expects to be home soon.

Lt. Stapel has been overseas for five months, two of which were spent in Kunming, China. She entered the service as an army nurse last March. On her way to the United States, she spent Thanksgiving in Casablanca.
