Jeanne Sohm Returns From California
Miss Jeanne Sohm, 729 Fifty-fifth st. arrived home from San Diego, Cal., where she has been since the first of the year with her parents, Com. and Mrs. Herbert A. Sohm. She will leave Monday for New York City, where she will take her basic training for the WAVES at Hunter college.

Jeanne LaVerne Sohm, daughter of Lieut. Com. and Mrs. Herbert A. Sohm, 729 Fifty-fifth st., is now serving in the naval hospital at Great Lakes, Ill. She reported there recently after completing a four-week course of study at Hunter college, New York, N.Y.
Miss Sohm was graduated from Roosevelt High school and attended St Mary's college, Holy Cross, Ind., for two years. At college she was the table tennis champion; she won several horse show awards and received the sports trophy in 1942.

MARRIED AT TREASURE ISLAND
Miss Jeanne Sohm, pharmacist's mate, first class in the WAVES, and William Stanley Thyberg, chief pharmacist's mate, U.S.N.R., were married Jan. 24 in the chapel at Treasure Island, San Francisco, Cal. Chaplain Charles J. Diemer performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Lieut. Com. and Mrs. Herbert A. Sohm of Des Moines and the bridegroom, the son of Mrs. John E. Thyberg of Minneapolis, Minn.

The bride enlisted in the WAVES two years ago at San Diego, Cal. where her father then was stationed. She took her training at Great Lakes and was assigned to the naval hospital at Oak Knoll, Calif. She came to Treasure Island in February 1944.

Jeanne LaVerne Sohm Thyberg was born June 17, 1922 to Herbert A. and Faye L. Anderson Sohm. She died May 30, 2020 and is buried in Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, IA.
She was married to William Stanley Thyberg.
