JOINS WACS -- Mrs. Lydia Smith, wife of Roy M. Smith, 2004 College avenue, who was recently sworn into the Women's Army corps by Lieut. Jane Louise Smith, WAC recruiting officer, has received notice to report at Des Moines to begin her basic training July 26. After completing the basic course she will be assigned to a medical technician school for training in rehabilitation work. Mrs Smith has been employed as a plant hostess at the Continental bakery.

LEAVE FOR WAC TRAINING -- Three of the five young women leaving last night for Des Moines to start their basic training with the WACS. Pvt. Lydia Smith, WAC, 2004 College avenue, who served for eight months in the medical corps, most recently at Fort Benning, Ga., has been honorably discharged from the service and will return to her position at Mengel Markets, Inc.
Miss Smith's training as a dental laboratory technician, was taken at Camp Atterbury, Ind., and she received her release from service earlier this month at Ft. Sheridan, Ill. She had previously been employed by Mengel's for seven years, until receiving a leave of absence to begin her training.
Her brother, Master Sgt. A.I. Meyers, who has served in the army for 16 years is at present stationed in the Philippines.
