Miss Rose Rygr, 814 Seventh avenue SE, has been accepted for entrance in the WAAC and will be inducted Nov. 7 in Des Moines. Miss Rygr has been employed by the Polehna Brothers company in Cedar Rapids.

Cedar Rapids Girl Sworn Into Wacs On Her Birthday

Des Moines -- Rose L. Rygr, read-haired Cedar Rapids office girl, was sworn into the WAAC Saturday on her first day of eligibility.

Miss Rygr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rygr, Norway, Ia., was 21 years old Saturday and she said "It's the best birthday present I ever had to join Uncle Sam."

She passed her examination and was accepted the WAAC as an auxiliary Sept 18. She returned to Cedar Rapids and waited her call to dty.

"I just couldn't wait any longer and I wanted to get in the first day I was eligible."

TO JOIN WAACS

Miss Rose L. Rygr, 193 Nineteenth avenue SW, has received notice that she is to report to the commanding officer at the Wacks training center at Fort Des Moines on Nov. 30. Miss Rygr has received the classification of general clerk in the Wacks.

Fairfax Wac Collects Army Insignia Patches

Fort Bragg, N.C. -- When Cpl. Rose Rygr of the WAC is not busy as secretary to the assistant director of military personnel at Fort Bragg, largest army post in the country, she collects army insignia shoulder patches.

As part of her work involves issuing orders for men transferring in or off the post and issuing discharge buttons to those who are entitled to them, Cpl. Rygr meets soldiers from many different outfits. With her merry smile and flashing eyes, the corporal doesn't have much difficulty in acquiring patches for her extensive collection. Her other hobbies as swimming and dancing.

Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rygr of Fairfax, Ia., she was employed as an accountant by a firm in Cedar Rapids after graduating from Norway high school and Cedar Rapids Business college. She reported for active duty with the WAAC Dec 1, 1942 and re-enlisted with the WAC Sept. 14, 1943

Cpl. Rygr received her basic training at Fort Des Maines and then attended the army administration school at Drake university. Her first assignment with the army was as company clerk in Fort Bragg's well known baker and cooks school. After seven months there she was transferred to the military personnel branch. She has a brother in the service, Jerry Williams Rygr, hospital apprentice second class, stationed with the navy in Sampson, N.Y.

Fairfax Girl Takes job With Army of Occupation

Fairfax -- Miss Rose Marie Rygr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rygr, has accepted a job with the army of occupation in Germany and will leave Thursday for the New York port of embarkation.

Miss Rygr, a former Wac, has been employed as education and occupational counselor with the army in North Carolina since her discharge form the service in November. She will be stationed with Third army headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany.
