Iowa Nurses Enlist in Army
Among Iowa nurses who completed their state nurse board examinations at the Iowa statehouse Tuesday and promptly volunteered for the army nurses corps were Mary McNutt (center) of Ames, Ia and Barbara Buckman (right) of Adel, Ia. Their enlistment is being taken by Lieut Kathryn Helm of the army nurses corps headquarters, Omaha, Nebr.

Mary Myrtle McNutt was born Apr. 25, 1918 to Samuel H. and Adeline R. Boutang McNutt. She died Nov. 21, 2005 and is buried in Ames Municipal Cemetery, Ames, IA.
Lt. McNutt served in World War II with the U.S. Army Nurse Corps with the 66th Field Hospital in Germany, France and England.
