Lt. Marjorie L. Martin

 

 

Miss Marjorie Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard A. Martin, 901 Forest avenue, who has been a nurse in Allen Memorial hospital of the past year, has joined the navy nurses corps and will leave Tuesday to take up her duties at Corona, Cal. She will have the rank of ensign in the navy. Miss Martin was graduated from the Burlington, Ia., Protestant hospital and from the Cook County hospital, Chicago.

Ensign Marjorie L. Martin, who has been stationed at the naval hospital, Corona, Cal., is spending a 10-day leave with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard A. Martin, 901 Forest avenue. Ensign Martin will report at the naval dispensary, Long Beach, Cal., where she has been transferred following her leave. Before enlisting for service in march, Ensign Martin was on the general nursing staff at Allen Memorial hospital.

Lt. (j.g.) Marjorie Martin, of the navy nurse corps, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Martin, 901 Forest avenue, has arrived at the navy hospital at Pearl Harbor, T.H., for duty, according to word received by her parents.

Lieutenant Martin, a former staff nurse at Allen Memorial hospital, entered the navy in March 1943. Before starting foreign service duty she was stationed at Shoemaker Cal., Corona, Cal., and Long Beach Cal. She received her training at Burlington, Ia., and Cook County hospital in Chicago.

Lt. (jg) Marjorie L. Martin of the navy nurse corps stationed at Pearl Harbor, last Wednesday was selected as “Woman of the Day” on a Cedar Rapids, Ia., radio program according to word received by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard A. Martin, 901 Forest avenue.
