IN MARINES --
Miss Betty Livermore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Livermore, 408 1/2 Kirkwood boulevard, is leaving for New York City today to report to Hunter college for basic training in the U.S. Marine Corps Women's Reserve. She was accepted by the marine corps and sworn into duty at Des Moines April 19.
Miss Livermore was graduated from Davenport high school, and attended MacMurray college at Jacksonville, Ill., and the University of Iowa. She has been employed in the office of the Scott county rationing board for the past year.
Members of the rationing board office staff entertained at a party for Miss Livermore last Friday.

Betty Livermore, Now Sergeant of Marines, on Leave
Betty Livermore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Livermore, 408 1/2 Kirkwood, a sergeant in the women's division of the U.S. marine corps, is spending a short furlough in Davenport.
She received a promotion from corporal to sergeant just before coming home from a tour of duty at marine headquarters in Arlington, Va., where she is an auditor in the paymaster's department.
Prior to enlisting last summer, Sgt. Livermore was a member of the staff with Davenport ration board. She survived her "boot" training at Hunter college, New York.
