Des Moines in the Services
Three Des Moines women were sworn in to the WAVES Wednesday and now are awaiting their call to active duty. They are Mrs. Margaret M. Kappelman, 1141 Douglas ave., Mildred V. Lippy, 2948 Easton blvd., and Mary Jean Combs, 957 Twenty-first st.

Des Moines in the Service
Nine Des Moines women have completed their basic training and indoctrination course at the naval training school for WAVES, The Bronx, New York, N.Y., and have received orders to report to various naval establishment throughout the nation. The women, all seaman, second class:
Leah Alberta Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Martin, 2305 E. Walnut, assigned to the naval air station, Ottumwa, Ia.
Deva Granger of 847 Fortieth place, assigned to the naval air station, Jacksonville, Fla.
Marceline Irene Spooner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard P. Spooner, 3007 S.W. Ninth st., assigned to the outgoing unit.
Margaret Moorehead Kappelman, daughter of Mrs. G.F. Moorehead, 1141 Douglas ave., assigned to further instruction at the yeoman training school, Cedar Falls, Ia.
Mildred Virginia Lippy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lippy, 2948 Easton blvd., held over at the naval training school, The Bronx.
Alice V. Darr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elden Darr, 3420 Second ave., assigned to the naval hospital corps school at Bethesda, MA.
Barbara T. Zupan, daughter of Mr. ad Mrs. John Zupan, sr., 324 Seventh st., West Des Moines, order to report to International Business Machines, New York, N.Y.
Rosetta Beauchat, of 204 Eighth st., assigned for duty with the shore patrol of Hunter college.
Maxine Orlando, wife of James Orlando, 1047, Sixth ave., order to report to the yeoman training school at Stillwater, Okla.

Mildred Lippy and Robert Delk Marries
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lippy, 2948 Easton blvd., announce the marriage of their daughter Mildred, Seaman, fist class in the WAVES, to Robert Delk, petty officer, first class in the navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Delk, 1422 Twenty-second st.
The wedding took place Monday in Des Moines. Both are stationed at Ottumwa, Ia., The bride was graduated from the East high school and was employed at the Des Moines Ordnance plant before entering the WAVES. Mr. Delk has just returned from overseas service.
