| Gertrude Margurite Kroon, 21, seaman second class, daughter of Mr. John Kroon of Sioux Center, Iowa, has completed her basic training and indoctrination course at the Naval Training School for WAVES, the Bronx, New York, and has received orders to report to Bureau of Aeronautics, Washington, D.C., for duty. |

| Before she entered the Naval Service Seaman Kroon was employed as secretary in the war bond office. She is a graduate of Sioux Center high school. She has five brothers in the service. |
| Women from 20 to 36 years of age, interested in joining Gertrude in the service of their country may obtain complete information by visiting their nearest Navy Recruiting Station, or the office of Naval Officer Procurement, 213 Old Federal Building, Des Moines, Ia. The Navy needs many more WAVES, particularly in the Hospital Corps, and it urges all young women to learn if they are eligible to help finish the fight against the fiendish Japs. |

WAVE GERTRUDE KROON |
Strolling on board the "USS Hunter" The Bronx, N.Y., is Seaman Gertrude M. Kroon, daughter of Mr. John Kroon of Sioux Center. Seaman Kroon, a graduate of Sioux Center public high school, is the sixth member of her family to enter the service. Her brother, Bert, a Sergeant in the army, was killed in Italy. The other brothers in the service are Richard, Staff Sgt., Eighth Army Air Forces in England, who returned to the states last week; Henry, Electricians Mate Second Class, South Pacific; William, Electricians Mate First Class, in the South Pacific; and Bernard, Seaman Second Class serving with the Seabees.
