Helen Hadish and Two Co-Teachers Enlist in the WAAC
Miss Helen Hadish, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Hadish, 617 Campbell avenue, and an instructor the past 10 years in the Spanish and French department at Ames High school has joined the WAAC for training at Fort Des Moines, Ia., or Daytona Beach, Fla., her parents announced Saturday.
Miss Hadish and two other Ames teachers were inducted at the same time at Des Moines and expect to train together. They expect to report for training later this month.
Before beginning her teaching at Ames, Miss Hadish attended and graduated from the University of Iowa.

First Lt. Helen F. Hadish, Wac operations officer, is spending a brief leave with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Hadish, 617 Campbell avenue, while en route from Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga., where she was stationed to a new assignment at Camp White, Ore. Commissioned a second lieutenant on May 1, 1943, after completing of her basic training at Fort Des Moines, she was promoted to first lieutenant last Nov. 1 whole at Daytona Beach, Fla. Prior to her enlistment, she was an instructor in the Ames, Ia high school.

Waterloo Wac is New Commanding Officer of Unit.
First Lt. Helen F. Hadish, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Hadish of 617 Campbell avenue newly arrived officer at McCaw General hospital, Walla Walla, Wash., has been assigned as commanding officer of the Wac detachments there.
She had previoulsy been stationed at the Santa Barbara Cal., redistribution center where she served as postal officer. She entered the service in February 1943, and was previously employed as a Spanish and French instructor at Ames high school.

Lt. Helen F. Hadish commanding officer of two Wac hospital companies, has been promoted to captain at McCarr hospital, Walla Walla, Wash. Daughter of Mrs. Clara Hadish, 617 Campbell avenue and the late F.J. Hadish, she expects to be sent to Camp Beale, Cal., where she will receive a discharge.

Helen Frances Hadish was born May 14, 1905 to Frank J. and Clara Helen Cerney Hadish. She died Nov. 1968 and is buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Omaha, NE.
Lt. Hadish served in World War II with the U.S. Army WACs.
