WAVE of the Day
Betty Jean Gorton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Gorton, 1421 Main street, is now an apprentice seaman in the WAVES, awaiting orders to report to Hunter college, New York City, N.Y. for her "boot" training.
She is a graduate of Davenport high school where she was active in the Girls Athletic Association and the Pep club. She has been employed as an office secretary at the McKinley school.
Seaman Gorton's brother, Richard, is a pharmacist's mate, second class, in the south Pacific area.
