Mary Goettel of Ackley a Marine
Ackley, Ia. -- Mary Frances Goettle, daughter and only child of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Goettel of Ackely, has successfully passed the mental and physical examination for the marine corps reserve. She has returned to her home following induction and is awaiting call to active duty.
When called she will report at Camp Lejuene, New River, N.C., for boot training. Mary is the first girl from Ackley to enlist in the marines. She attended University of Iowa before her induction.

GETS TRANSFER
Ackley -- Miss Mary Frances Goettel, field musician 1/c of the marines corps women's reserve, has been transferred to El Toro, CAl., from Camp Le Jeune, N. Car., where she received her boot training in field music. She is the daughter and only child of Mr and Mrs Carl Goettel.

Ackley -- Mr. and Mrs. Carl Goettel are announcing the marriage of their daughter, Marine Pfc. Mary Frances Goettel and Marine Staff Sgt. Donald Allen Edgerley, son of Mrs. William Edgerley, Providence, R.I. which took place Friday at the post chapel, El Toro, Cal. The couple will leave Sunday for Ackely to make a short visit in the home of her parents, after which he will go to Rhode Island to visit his parents. They will make their home in El Toro where both are stationed. The bride entered the service in May and for three months trained at Camp LeJuene, N.C. before being sent to California.
