ON LEAVE -- Lieut. Mildred A. Fisher, Army Nurse corps, is spending a 15-day convalescent leave here with her mother, Mrs. Anne Fisher, 616 East Lombard street, before returning to Harlingen field, Texas. She expects to be assigned to the William Beaumont hospital, El Paso, in the near future. Entering the army in April, 1941, she was stationed at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., for 30 months before transferring to the cadet center at San Antonio, Texas. Lieut. Fisher is a graduate of Davenport high school and St. Joseph's hospital school of nursing, Keokuk, Ia.

BROTHER, SISTER TALK FROM JAPAN TO MOTHER HERE
Corp. David Fisher, 616 East Lombard street, Davenport, now stationed in China with the U.S. marine corps, recently visited his sister, Lieut. Mildred Fisher of the U.S. army nurses corps stationed in Japan. One of their first moves after meeting was to get a long distance telephone and put in a call to their mother, Mrs. Anne Fisher. The call was placed at noon in Japan, which is 9 p.m. in Davenport.
Lieut. Mildred Fisher saw service in this country and then volunteered for foreign service during the war, serving in France. She again volunteered for foreign service after peace was declared and was sent directly to Japan.
