Bernetta Ross Durr McGuire was born Dec. 11, 1915 to John and Theresa Ward Durr. She died Sept. 17. 1986 and is buried in Saint Marys Catholic Church Cemetery, McGregor, IA.
Lt. Durr served in World War II with the U.S. Army Nurse Corps with the first hospital unit for Australia before the fall of Bataan and Corregidor. She also served in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. She was married to Lawrence R. “Larry” McGuire. Lawrence served in World War II with the U.S. Army.
