IN MARINES
Lorraine E. Durand, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Durand, 1006 Harrison street, will leave Sunday for training in the women's reserve corps at Hunter college, New York City. She is a graduate of Notre Dame academy, Quincy , Ill. and for the last two years has been employed at the office of the Illinois Bell Telephone Co. A brother, Charles, is attending the naval diesel school at the University of Illinois. He entered service Jan. 7, 1943.

Emma Lorraine Durand, U.S.M.C., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Durand, 1006 Harrison street, Davenport, was recently promoted to the rank of sergeant.
Sgt. Durand is now stationed at the marine air corps station at El Toro, Santa Ana, Calif. where she is a radio operator.
Prior to entering the service, she was employed as a telephone operator by the Illinois Bell Telephone Co.
She is a graduate of Notre Dame academy, Quincy, Ill.
