TWO SWORN INTO WAVES -- Miss Dorothy Schoop, 111 East Locust, on the left and Miss Virginia Lee Cross, 818 West Fourteenth streets, are shown above being sworn into the WAVES at the local recruiting station by Ensign Nadine Holliday, Des Moines, office of naval office procurement. Miss Schoop has been employed in the accounting department at Voss Brothers and Miss Cross was employed in the production department of the same firm. They will leave soon for Hunter college, the Bronx, N.Y to start their training.

Davenport Girl at Naval Base Hospital
Virginia L. Cross, 818 West Fourteenth street, Davenport, has completed her training at the hospital corps school at the navy hospital at San Diego, Calif., it was announced today, and has been retained for active duty there.
Miss Cross has been promoted to the rating of hospital apprentice second class. Miss Cross is a graduate of Davenport high school and is a daughter of Mrs. Arthur J. Krejci of Davenport.
